Synology RS1221RP+
The Synology RS1221RP+ is a 8-bay rackmount NAS built around the AMD Ryzen V1500B processor. Installed memory is 4 GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM, expandable to 32 GB. Networking is 4 x 1GbE RJ-45. With expansion units it grows to 12 drive bays.

Who it suits
A rackmount unit suits an office with a server rack or a comms room. The redundant power supply keeps it running if one supply fails. It works well as the main file server or as a backup target for servers and PCs.

How much usable storage does the RS1221RP+ give?
It depends on the drives and the RAID level. With 8 × 8 TB drives in RAID 5 you get about 56 TB before formatting. The capacity table on this page shows other combinations.
Can the RS1221RP+ be expanded?
Yes. With Synology expansion units it supports up to 12 drive bays in total.
Can the memory in the RS1221RP+ be upgraded?
Yes. It ships with 4 GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM and Synology lists a maximum of 32 GB.
Does the RS1221RP+ have 10GbE?
Not built in. Its ports are 4 x 1GbE RJ-45. It has an expansion slot, which can take a faster network card where Synology lists one for this model.
What warranty does the RS1221RP+ have?
