Synology DS1525+
The Synology DS1525+ is a 5-bay desktop NAS built around the AMD Ryzen V1500B processor. Installed memory is 8 GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM, expandable to 32 GB. Networking is 2 x 2.5GbE RJ-45. It also has 2 x M.2 2280 NVMe SSD for SSD cache or fast storage. With expansion units it grows to 15 drive bays.

Who it suits
Five or six bays give more usable space in RAID 5, or allow RAID 6, which survives two drive failures. A good fit for 10 to 50 users.

Questions about the DS1525+
How much usable storage does the DS1525+ give?
It depends on the drives and the RAID level. With 5 × 8 TB drives in RAID 5 you get about 32 TB before formatting. The capacity table on this page shows other combinations.
Can the DS1525+ be expanded?
Yes. With Synology expansion units it supports up to 15 drive bays in total.
Can the memory in the DS1525+ be upgraded?
Yes. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM and Synology lists a maximum of 32 GB.
Does the DS1525+ have 10GbE?
Not built in. Its ports are 2 x 2.5GbE RJ-45. It has an expansion slot, which can take a faster network card where Synology lists one for this model.
What warranty does the DS1525+ have?
Synology lists a hardware warranty of 3 years, extendable to 5 years for this model.
